My name is Gina and welcome!

My first memories of art were of sitting around a kitchen table with my grandmother. I was five years old. The kitchen was always warm and cosy and infused with the tantalising aromas of food simmering on her stove and my favourite lemon butter cake baking contentedly in the oven.

And we would draw.

Our favourite topic was birds. Roosters, hens and baby chicks were the favourites with the occasional magpie sauntering
across the page. I progressed to horses and donkeys which required more skill- or so we thought! We would laugh and smile at each other’s work.

Then when I was 7 years old I won an art prize in a local competition. From memory I had painted a family and their
home. I was congratulated and acknowledged by my parents but informed, with all their best intentions, that I would never make a living from art. Why would I doubt their wisdom?

One could say that my career in art paused right there!

Truthfully, while I never formally painted, the richness of colour was always at hand. It still weaved its magic into my life through décor, clothes, gardens….and I even cooked by colour. Yes… no plate of food was ever served unless it was full of colour. No one did “beige” in my house! I progressed through my school years and dutifully followed the sciences. I studied Pharmacy and moved my interests into areas of nutrition (the colourful meals rich in antioxidants actually had further meaning!!) and holistic medicine. It was only when my children finished school that I was drawn to art again and haven’t stopped painting since.

My art “heroes” are the abstract expressionists. Men and women who broke from the mould and carved their own paths.

My personal path has taken me into painting abstract works where I work mainly with acrylics. The creative journey for me is intuitive, explorative and totally soul immersing.

I love to weave the brush strokes, playing with the richness of colour until it takes form.  I have always been drawn to the colours and shapes that nature serves
up for us to see. This is where my abstract art takes its visual cue.

The purpose of my art, apart from visual appeal is to continue to bring to the forefront what we must preserve and care for. Our collective “Home”.

It is my hope that my abstract works can help to revitalise our connection with nature.

My vision has always been to create art for your home.  Art that supports you on your journey.
Be it an energetic or vibrant piece to inspire and uplift or an abstract work that speaks to you of calm and serenity.
Your home is an extension of who you are and I offer you my creative works for this sacred space.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
